Speed, power and power endurance
In many sports the ability of rapidly changing position of the body is the most important motor ability and it is called agility. It is a combined ability strongly depending on power and speed. The latter is physically defined as the distance overcome in a certain time. Sports that are more complex in their nature, often require also the ability to sustain the high level of such quickness over a longer time period. For this purpose endurance in power, speed and/or agility is needed.
In sports medicine the final functional goal that should be addressed is also the imitation of situational loadings typical for a certain sport discipline. Since we are talking about quite aggressive movement actions it is important to have a control over the progressiveness which has to be directed by well quantified tests and diagnostic procedures.
